West Alabama 13U Babe Ruth blanks Tallasee, 15-0

The West Alabama 13U Babe Ruth baseball team started off their part of the 2021 13U Babe Ruth State Tournament with a dominant win over Tallassee. West Alabama came one run shy of ending the game via the 15-run mercy run in the bottom of the third, but held Tallassee in the top of the fourth and added the 15th run to end the game in the fourth inning.

6-25-2021 — Demopolis, Ala. — West Alabama’s Bryce McElroy fires a pitch to the plate during the top of the first inning against Tallassee, in the 2021 Babe Ruth 13U State Tournament at the Demopolis SportsPlex.

West Alabama scored four, three and seven runs in the first three innings, with the bottom of the fourth being their only single run inning. West Alabama scored the 15 runs on only eight hits, being aided by nine walks. In 33 plate appearances, West Alabama players only struck out twice. The eight hits included four singles, three doubles and one triple.

Tucker Capps and Jake Bumgarner collected two hits each. Bryce McElroy, Braxton Vice, Jackson Hasty and Jack Pritchett collected one hit each for West Alabama.

McElroy went the distance on the mound for West Alabama, giving up only three hits, while striking out two and walking one.
