Marengo County to mark Juneteenth on July 2

All Marengo County offices, except for essential services, will be closed Friday, July 2, in recognition of Juneteenth.

When the Alabama legislature passed the new state holiday, Marengo County did not have enough time to notify its citizens. The decision was made to mark the date two weeks later.

The county also will observe the Fourth of July national holiday on June 5, giving a long weekend for offices and employees.
