Tigers softball blanks Hale County, 10-0

The Demopolis Tigers varsity softball team defeated the Hale County Wildcats 10-0 in five innings at home Tuesday. The Tigers scored two in the bottom of the first inning, then added eight in the bottom of the third while holding the Wildcats scoreless.

Weezie Hughes and Madison Ford led the Tigers at the plate, both going 3-for-3 on the evening. Hughes collected three doubles and Ford had two singles and a double. Ashton Moorer, Lauren Smith Tayler Pipkins and Maddie Grace Teel collected one hit each for the Tigers. Hughes, Pipkins and Ford totaled two RBIs each with Moorer and Cloie Henry adding one each. Ford scored three runs for the Tigers and Hughes scored two. Moorer, Allie Hughes, Smith, Abby Grace Cameron and Teel scored one run each.

Moorer completed five scoreless innings on the mound for the Tigers, striking out nine Wildcat batters, walking none and surrendering four hits.
