Demopolis High School saw three of its senior student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent with Alabama junior colleges last week.

Kayla Montz, a standout softball player for the Lady Tigers, inked an offer from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia. Montz has played virtually all over the field for Demopolis during her career. A traditionally high average hitter, Montz has also featured in the circle for DHS. Her versatility figures to feature prominently for LBW.

The Tigers also saw more than 13 feet of basketball players sign with Alabama junior colleges. Shakari Williams, a 6-5 forward, signed with Snead State out of Boaz. Williams chose the Parsons over the four-year offers he had in hand. The athletic wing said he intends to work on his scoring versatility in view of a potential large scale NCAA Division I offer.

Nelson Haskin, a 6-6 forward, is headed to Bevill State of Jasper. Haskin proved the sparkplug for the Tigers over the last two seasons and chose the Bears among an array of interested programs. Like Williams, he hopes for a high level Division I offer in the future.

The trio brings the total to 10 members of the Demopolis Class of 2018 that have solidified their plans to continue their playing careers.

The others include cross country star Gracie Boykin (UWA), softball standout Kendall Hannah (UWA) and soccer signee Zachary Chu (UWA) as well as football players A.J. Jackson (University of the Cumberlands), Jeremy Jackson (Southern Prep ā€“ La.), Brandon Simmons (Jefferson Prep) and DeDe Davis (Jefferson Prep).
