Parr’s to match donations to Foundation on Giving Tuesday

Donations to the Demopolis City Schools Foundation on Giving Tuesday will have double the impact, thanks to the generosity of Parr’s.

The Foundation is joining with Parr’s to support Demopolis classrooms this holiday season. On Tuesday, Dec., 3 Parr’s will match all donations made to the Foundation up to $5,000.

“Every single child in the Demopolis schools benefits from our grants – whatever innovative ideas that our teachers have,” said Joe Parr, who serves on the Foundation Board of Directors.

“I see the impact these grants have on our classrooms. The support of donors is what makes this work possible and we are happy to help encourage the community to give,” said Parr.

Community members can donate to the Foundation through its website at www.demopolis.org and give on-line or via Facebook to take advantage of this match. Additionally, any checks mailed by Dec. 3 will be counted as well.

Giving Tuesday closes out the 2019 Membership Campaign to support the Foundation’s work for the coming year.

“Every year over 250 community donors support the Foundation’s efforts to support excellence in Demopolis schools,” said Amanda Barnes, Executive Director of the Foundation.

“From library books to laptops, support for art and music education, donations to the Foundation are the best way community members can impact our schools,” Barnes said.

“Parr’s has always been known for their generous donations to the Demopolis community,” said Chelsee Mullinax, Parr’s Marketing Director.

“We want to give back to all of you who continue to support us. The Parr family proudly supports the works of the Demopolis City School Foundation, and everything it stands for. We live in this town. We give to this town. We care about this town,” Mullinax added.

The Demopolis City Schools Foundation is an independent nonprofit established in 1993 to encourage private charitable support of the Demopolis public school system.  Governed by a 33-member Board of Directors, the Foundation has provided more than $1,300,000 in classroom grants since its inception.

Founded in 1942, Parr’s is a third generation company. Brothers Jim and Joe Parr currently own and operate nine Chevron/Texaco Convenience Stores across West and Central Alabama, as well as a bulk fuel and oil plant.

They recently opened a state-of-the-art tunnel wash. The Parr’s organization is committed to quality products and exceptional service in all aspects of business.
