Lady Tigers skunk two foes to end week

After downing Sweet Water 10-0 Monday, Demopolis (8-7, 1-1) wrapped its week with a pair of dominant shutouts over Greensboro and Central-Tuscaloosa.

DEMOPOLIS 10, GREENSBORO 0

The Lady Tigers scored four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth Tuesday to finish off a one-hit, 10-0 shutout over Greensboro.

Abby Grace Cameron paced the offense with a 2-for-4 day that included two doubles and four RBIs. Weezie Hughes was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Tayler Pipkins was 1-for-1 with a double, one RBI and a run scored. Taylor Smith went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Alex Abrams went 1-for-1 with a triple, one RBI and two runs scored. Samyia Lucas, Zanadia Wright, Tiffany McInnis, April Schroeder, and Elly Brown each scored a run in the game.

Ashton Moorer notched the win, striking out 11 batters and allowing one hit over four innings of work. Pipkins struck out one over a scoreless inning of work.

DEMOPOLIS 15, CENTRAL 0

Demopolis traveled to Central-Tuscaloosa Thursday to pick up a 15-0 area win over the Lady Falcons. The Lady Tigers hung five runs on the board in the first inning and 10 more in the third.

Demopolis had only two hits and drew 14 walks in the game. Brown was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored to highlight the offense. Pipkins went 1-for-1 with one RBI and one run scored.

Hughes scored three runs. Smith, Cameron and Lucas each scored twice. Caroline Larkin, Wright and Marianna Person scored one run each.

Moorer struck out four over two innings of work while allowing two hits and one walk for the win. Pipkins fanned two over one inning of work to close it.

Demopolis travels to Orange Beach Monday for tournament play. The Lady Tigers will face John Carroll Catholic and Corner Monday before challenging Good Hope and Holtville Tuesday.
