Lady Longhorns skunk Jackson, Southern for impressive wins
MARENGO ACADEMY 12, JACKSON ACADEMY 1
Trinity Wilkinson was bad news for opposing pitchers on Tuesday, driving in six runs on three hits to lead Marengo Academy past Jackson Academy 12-1. Wilkinson drove in runs on a groundout in the first, a double in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.
Marengo Academy got things started in the first inning when Mary Grace Sheffield hit a solo homer.
The Longhorns put up five runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Marengo Academy was led by Maci Nettles, Riley Newton, and Wilkinson, all of whom drove in runs in the inning.
Sheffield pitched Marengo Academy to the victory. She surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Mazzy Marlowe threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Marengo Academy racked up eight hits in the game. Wilkinson and Newton all had multiple hits for Marengo Academy. Wilkinson led Marengo Academy with three hits in four at-bats. MA also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases.

Trinity Wilkinson didn’t allow a single run against Southern Academy Thursday, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Marengo Academy to a 17-0 victory.
Marengo Academy secured the victory thanks in large part to 10 runs in the first inning. The Longhorns’ big bats in the inning were led by singles from Wilkinson, Raegan Pritchett, Jessi Flowers and Adrienne Griffith, an error on balls put in play by Mary Kendall Glass and Morgan Broadhead, a triple by Mary Grace Sheffield, and a sac fly by Riley Newton.
Marengo Academy got things started in the first inning. Wilkinson drove in one when she singled.
