Hill selected as 2018 Young Miss Christmas on the River

10-2-18 — Demopolis, Ala. — Millie Grace Hill was crowned 2018 Young Miss Christmas on the River at the Demopolis Civic Center.

Another young beauty was crowned last night as the Christmas on the River pageants continued. 25 young ladies competed for the title of Young Miss Christmas on the River on the Demopolis Civic Center Stage starting at 7 p.m., October 2. It was a parade of stunning dresses and beautiful girls as the judges had the difficult task of narrowing the number down to a top 10 that ended up being a top 13. Those young ladies named were Naudia Naomi Reed, Olivia Grace Lindsay, Claire Elisabeth Hasty, Millie Grace Hill, Kni’ Aamora Shaniese Taylor, Sadie Drew Dixon, Susanna Gray Bell, Carter Lynn Crawford, Maria Isabelle Roy, Ali Taylor Basinger, Emory Lynn Pezent, Emma Rae Claire Dahl, and Ziona Nicole Wheeler.

After one more chance to grace the stage and impress the judges, a final decision had been made for the top five to be chosen in order to answer an onstage question and show how the young ladies do under pressure. After a brief deliberation and tallying up the scores, a new queen and her court had been decided.

Fourth alternate was awarded to Susanna Gray Bell, wearing a beautiful white ball gown with a fully beaded bodice. SuSu is in the fourth grade at U.S. Jones Elementary School. Third alternate, in a lovely white sparkle tulle gown, was Carter Lynn Crawford, a third-grader from U. S. Jones. Second alternate and fourth-grader at U.S. Jones was Sadie Drew Dixon in a fuchsia chiffon gown with crystal beading. First alternate was Ali Taylor Basinger, who was wearing a white, off-the-shoulder ball gown with gold bead work. She is in fourth grade with Victory Christian.

Crowned Young Miss Christmas on the River 2018 was fifth-grader Millie Grace Hill in an elegant mint satin gown with intricate mint green and rhinestone beading on the bodice and sleeves. Millie is the 11-year-old daughter of Dr. Willy and Mrs. Dana Hill and she attends U. S. Jones Elementary School. Hill was very surprised to be crowned and looks forward to all of the Christmas on the River events, especially the day parade. Millie was also Little Miss COTR in 2015.
