Colvin crowned 2018 Little Miss Christmas on the River

10-3-18 — Demopolis, Ala. — Ridley Jean Colvin was crowned 2018 Little Miss Christmas on the River at the Demopolis Civic Center.

The last Christmas on the River pageant of 2018 is in the books with the crowning of the Little Miss Christmas on the River queen tonight at the Demopolis Civic Center. 42 precious little ladies competed for the crown. The judges cut that number to 23 and then to a top 10. Those named to the top 10 were Ridley Jean Colvin, Kendall Marie Gandy, Aubrey Lorraine Dunavent, Violet Elizabeth Smelley, Madison Robinson, Katherine Marie Hewitt, Carly James Teel, Catherine Brooke Compton, Lexie Jayne Yelverton,and Skylar Peighton Smith.

After one last look, the judges narrowed the group to the top 5 that would answer the question, “What do you think is Santa’s favorite kind of cookie?” After these precious dolls showed their personalities and flashed one more smile, the judges selected the new Little Miss COTR and her court.

Fourth alternate was first-grader Catherine Brooke Compton in a white organza ruffled gown. Third alternate was Skylar Peighton Smith, kindergartner, wearing a bubble gum pink ball gown with silver beading. Second alternate was Katherine Marie Hewitt, a second grader, wearing a white ruffled evening dress trimmed in rhinestones. First alternate was second-grader Lexie Jayne Yelverton, wearing a white multi tiered gown with crystal beading.

Crowned Little Miss Christmas on the River was Ridley Jean Colvin, wearing a beautiful baby blue satin gown with a fully beaded bodice and beaded sleeves. Ridley is the five year old daughter of Michael and Tory Colvin and is in kindergarten at Westside Elementary School. Colvin said she was really happy and really proud when they called her name out as the winner. She looks forward to all of the Christmas on the River events.
