DPD encourages motorists to stay off roadways

Demopolis Police Department Chief Tommie Reese has requested all motorists stay off the roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary. Reese indicated the city has already experienced a high volume of traffic accidents, estimating six or seven wrecks as of 11 a.m. Tuesday.

“If you travel, you travel at your own risk,” Reese said.

Snow flurries began in Demopolis in the early morning hours and have continued to dust the city throughout the day. Demopolis City Schools are closed Tuesday and DCS decision makers are expected to make a decision regarding a potential Wednesday closure later today.
