Schools closed Wednesday

Demopolis City Schools will be closed Wednesday due to continued winter weather. Demopolis City Schools Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin is hopeful the system will not have to make up the days later in the semester.

“The state superintendent has offered a waiver for these two days, being that it is a state of emergency,” Griffin said, referring to the state of emergency Gov. Robert Bentley declared Monday. “So we are going to apply for it and hopefully we will not have to make up these two days.”

All county school systems are expected to operate on normal schedule Thursday.
