DPD arrests juvenile in conjunction with social media post

The Demopolis Police Department announced via its Facebook page Friday afternoon that it has arrested one local juvenile following with a social media threat.

Demopolis Public Safety Director Tommie Reese indicated an investigation by the DPD into a social media post referencing a large group of student preparing to fight off campus but near Demopolis Middle School led to the arrest of a male juvenile.

The student faces charges related to making a threat which caused the disruption of school activities. The Marengo County Juvenile Court will handle the student’s case.

The investigation ran through much of the evening Thursday with the correlating social media threat causing a stir that prompted an all-call from Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff, who assured stakeholders that all such matters would be thoroughly investigated and student safety would remain a top priority.

Reese urged that law enforcement and DCS officials take all such threats seriously and will continue working together to ensure the safety of students and schools.
