28th Leadership Marengo class seeking members for 2021-2022

The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the 28th year of Leadership Marengo and is seeking nominations and sponsorships for the new class.

“The sole mission of Leadership Marengo is to identify, educate and train potential leaders as well as current leaders in Marengo County,” said David Lyons, DACC executive director.

The sessions develop leaders “through a network and interchange of ideas and a deeper understanding of our economic, political and social conditions,” he continued.

Orientation for the new class will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Shack 33 (Soggy Bottom Lodge). The remaining sessions are:

  • Teamwork and Diversity, Tuesday, Oct. 19, Demopolis Higher Education Center.
  • Economic Development, Tuesday, Nov. 9, Marengo County Business Development Center, Linden.
  • Education and Healthcare, Tuesday Jan. 11, Demopolis Higher Education Center.
  • Legislative, Date in March to be announced, bus trip to Montgomery.
  • Quality of Life/Tourism, Community Development, Graduation, Tuesday, May 12, Theo Ratliff Center.

Registration forms are available from the DACC or on its website. Names, fees and completed forms must be sent to the DACC by Tuesday, Oct. 5. Tuition for each participant is $200.
