Bulldogs dominate Royals, 39-7

The Sweet Water Bulldogs only needed one half to take care of the visiting Jay (Florida) Royals. The Bulldogs scored all 39 of their points in the first half and gave up a lone touchdown at the end of the game to claim the 39-7 win.

The Bulldogs first score of the night came on a 57-yard pass from Walker Thompson to Jake Schroeder. The PAT failed, giving the Dawgs a 6-0 lead with 8:18 to go in the first quarter.

At the 7:20 mark of the first quarter, Christian Dunning got into the end zone on a 6-yard run. Thompson’s PAT gave the Dawgs a 13-0 lead.

Jaland Lewis-Horton scored on a 41-yard run with 2:44 to go in the first quarter. Thompson’s PAT increased the Dawgs’ lead to 20-0 over the Royals.

Lewis-Horton scored his second touchdown of the night on an 11-yard run with 10:05 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT failed, leaving the Dawgs with a 26-0 lead.

Thompson scored on a 1-yard run with 6:04 to go in the second quarter. Michael Alan Cole tacked on the PAT, stretching the Sweet Water lead to 33-0.

Lashon Young scored on a 2-yard run at the end of the first half. The PAT failed, giving the Dawgs their final points of the night and a 39-0 halftime lead.

For the second week in a row, the visiting team finally found the end zone on the last play of the game. This week, the Royals did manage to tack on the PAT, resulting in the final score of 39-7 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs ended the night with 354 yards of total offense, while giving up only 61 yards to the Royals.

Thompson completed one pass, the 57-yard touchdown to Schroeder, which was Schroeders’ only catch of the game. Young completed his only pass of the game, a 12-yarder, to David Etheridge, which was Etheridge’s only catch of the game.

Dunning led the Bulldogs with 126 yards on eight carries, with one touchdown. Lewis-Horton had 112 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Thompson added 24 yards on three carries. Young and Deshanard Blanks each had two carries for 12 yards. Delvontae Lucy had 10 yards on 6 carries.

The Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0) will host the Leroy Bears for their next game.
