County Commission approves $3.9 million budget for FY2022

Only a few items of business were concluded during the opening regular session of the Marengo County Commission meeting Tuesday. Most of the issues before the Commission and requests from county department heads came under discussion in a 2 ½-hour executive session.

Once the commissioners came out of the executive session, they unanimously voted for the 2021-2022 budget of $3,899,333.02.

Bid openings for asphalt, gas and diesel and stone took up a good portion of the meeting. Commissioners approved the sole bids from Bradford Gravel for gravel and Pruitt Oil for gasoline.

County engineer Billy Jo Webb will study the bids from Ready Mix USA and Vulcan Materials for asphalt and accept the lower bid if it meets standards. Since no bids were received for pipe, the matter was tabled until October.

In the only other business in the opening session, the Commission approved the transfer of liquor license to the new owner of Dixon Mart.
