Virtual Night of Lights benefits Foundation

Three student groups are joining together to create A Night of Lights, a virtual event benefiting the Demopolis City Schools Foundation.

This first virtual event for the Foundation includes an online silent auction and a live-streamed event produced and directed by students from DHS Tiger Studios and Tiger Arts Guild programs. DHS marketing students are tasked with the marketing and promotions of the event.

To take part in the auction, bidders may register beginning April 12. Bidding starts April 21. Early registration is recommended. Those registered by April 16 will be entered for a chance to win a gift card.

Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Foundation’s grant program. Information on how to register for the auction will be released closer to the date of the event as well as, a sneak peek of some of the items up for bidding.

The live-stream event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. It will focus on Foundation awareness, grants in action, donor recognition and the talents of students in Demopolis City Schools. A link to the site will be provided closer to time of the event.

“I am excited to work with Mrs. (Jody) Tartt and Mrs. Courtney Kerby and their students on this event,” said Ashley Coplin, Foundation Executive Director.

In preparing for the Foundation’s donor celebration, Coplin realized a virtual option would be necessary, “but we also needed a way to make sure our donors knew how much their continued support means to us,” she continued.

“I feel that A Night of Lights is an excellent way for the Foundation to do this and to try something new,” Coplin said. “Now, working with two super creative teachers and their talented kids, I can’t wait for A Night of Lights!”

Updates on A Night of Lights will be on the DCSF Facebook and Instagram pages.
