UWA to offer EMT licensure course

LIVINGSTON, Ala.— Three Basic Emergency Medical Technician courses will be offered this spring at the University of West Alabama.

The courses are open for currently enrolled students and for the general public and will be offered Jan. 13 through May 7.

When taken together the courses meet or exceed the U.S. Department of Transportation National EMS Education Standards for the Basic EMT and meet the requirements necessary to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Examination. Alabama requires completion of the NREMT testing process for licensure for EMT.

The courses are offered to the public for non-credit at a tuition cost of $700, payable at the first class meeting, and does not include the cost of textbooks. For more information on the non-credit course, contact UWA Education Services at 205-652-3497.

The three courses are EMS 200 Basic Emergency Care, EMS 205 Basic Emergency Clinical Internship and EMS 206 Basic Skills Laboratory.
