UWA men’s tennis remains perfect

rp_primary_Nestor_GSCROME, Ga. – The University of West Alabama men’s tennis team remained perfect on the young 2014 season by notching its fourth consecutive shutout with a 9-0 victory over Gulf South Conference foe Shorter Saturday at the Walt Attaway Tennis Complex.

Not only have the Tigers not lost a match this season, Coach Glen Fanelli’s crew has yet to drop a set in its first four matches.

The Tigers will be tested for the first time when national power West Florida visits the Vaughn Tennis Center on the UWA campus on Friday. Match time is 1 p.m.

With a clean sweep in doubles by Adam Drysdale and Anton Ivanov at No. 1, Nestor Vargas and Kike Ruiz at No. 2 and Manuel Grossmann and Simon Bardell at No. 3, the Tigers were set up to run the table in singles.

Victories by Vargas, Ivanov and Drysdale put the match away, while wins by Bardell, Ruiz and Grossmann kept West Alabama’s streak alive.
