Tuesday morning car chase ends with woman’s arrest

By the time a high speed chase west of Demopolis ended Tuesday morning, some 15 vehicles from four different law enforcement agencies were involved.
Marengo County Sheriff’s deputies were called Tuesday morning when Rock-Tenn reported a woman had run the gate at the company’s construction site.
Sheriff Richard Bates said Deputy Brandon Paulk met the vehicle as the 52-year-old white female was driving east on Highway 28. She eluded capture by driving through a yard and circled around a house to head west on the highway.
At that point the Linden and Demopolis police departments and the Greene County Sheriff also became involved in the chase.
Officers managed to box in her white Mercury on U.S. Highway 80, just west of County Road 57. Officers had to break the window to get the woman out and turn off her vehicle.
Bates said the woman, whose name he withheld, is in the Marengo County Jail. “We’re going to get her some treatment,” he said.
