Tigers pound Bears, 41-8

It took the Demopolis Tigers half of the first quarter to get into the end zone against the visiting Sipsey Valley Bears, but that score started a fire. The Tigers scored two more touchdowns before the quarter was over. And another two scores before the half resulted in 10 minute quarters and a running clock in the second half. “I’m proud of our guys. It’s a big region win. We came out and got an early lead that gave us the opportunity to get a lot of our young guys some playing time,” said head coach Brian Seymore. “And that’s well deserved because they’ve been practicing hard.”

“We’ve got to keep working. We’ve got some guys getting well (from injuries), so that’s giving us a little help. We’re looking forward to a challenge next week. We know they’re big, we know they’re physical. Up front, we’ve got to do a good job on the defensive front. On offense, we’ve got to put points on the board and play with a little tempo. It’s another region game and they’re all huge.”

The Tigers outgained the Bears 404-48 in total yards for the game. Hayes Atkins led the Tigers with 58 yards on four carries. Craig Nichols had two touchdown runs and Kelvin Rowser had one.
