Tigers hold off Bulldogs for 3-1 win

The Demopolis Tigers baseball team scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning and only allowed a single run by the Sweet Water Bulldogs to win their last regular season home game of the 2021 season.

Joseph Gantt, Jim Lawler and Hayes Atkins scored the Tigers’ runs. The Tigers collected five hits on the day. Lawler led the way with two hits. Gantt, Mac Logan and Coleman Fuqua collected one hit each.

Starting pitcher Fuqua picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers, completing five innings of work, striking out eight and walking only one. Fuqua surrendered just one hit and gave up the only Bulldog run. Kevin McElroy worked the remaining two innings, giving up one hit and collecting the save. The Tigers committed two errors on the day.

Trace Luker and Michael Alan Cole were credited with one hit each for the Bulldogs. Christopher White, Jr. scored the lone run for the Bulldogs.

Luker pitched a complete game for the Dawgs, striking out four and walking two. The Bulldog defense committed six errors on the day, which led to one unearned run.
