Tigers drop two in Saturday tilt

Demopolis (10-6) dropped a pair of games during a visit to Bibb County High Saturday. The Tigers fell to Hopkinsville (Ky.) and Class 7A power Prattville.

Hopkinsville (Ky.) 4, Demopolis 2

In their first game of the day, the Tigers scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh but could not climb out of a 4-0 hole en route to a 4-2 loss.

Wesley Holemon scored the first Demopolis run in the seventh when Jacob Rodrigues reached on an error. Jamarcus Ezell followed with a run-scoring single that plated Jonathon Lewis to cut the deficit to 4-2 but the Tigers could not extend the two-out rally.

Demopolis put together eight hits in the contest. Lewis went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Hunter Colyar was 1-for-4 while R.J. Cox went 3-for-4. Rodrigues and Ezell each went 1-for-4. Holemon was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Colyar struck out four over five innings of work, allowing three earned runs. Harrison Wood pitched one and a third innings of shutout baseball while Ezell pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.

Prattville 7, Demopolis 1

In its second game of the day, Demopolis scored a run in the bottom of the fifth but could not put together enough to overcome the Prattville onslaught in a 7-1 loss.

The only three hits for the Tigers came in the form of singles from Ezell, Ryan Morrison and Demetrious Davis, who scored the lone run. Ezell also stole a base.
