Tigers baseball scores 35 runs in doubleheader

The Demopolis Tigers baseball team hosted the Selma Saints in a region matchup on Wednesday. The first game ended after three innings, 18-0, and the following game ended after four, 17-1.

Game1: The Tigers scored all 18 runs of their first game in the top of the second inning. The 18 runs came via only seven hits. Price Smith led the way, collecting two hits, while Jimbo Lawler, Kevin McElroy, Mac Bradley, Drew Seymore and Mac Logan collected one hit each. Hayes Atkins, Smith, Bradley and Logan were credited with two RBIs each and Joseph Gantt, Charlie Singleton, Lawler and Seymore were credited with one RBI each.

Seymore was credited with three runs scored. Gantt, Singleton, Smith, Lawler, McElroy, Bradley and Montgomery Freeman scored two runs each, with Vincent Deas scoring one.

Six different Tiger batters were hit by pitch. Singleton was hit three times, Bradley twice. Atkins, Gantt, Logan and Seymore were hit once each. Deas and Freeman stole one base each.

Atkins got the win on the mound, striking out eight and walking one. Atkins was credited with throwing only 43 pitches.

Game 2: The Tigers spread their runs out over all four innings of their second game against the Saints, who scored their lone run in the top of the first inning. The Tigers plated one run in the first, six in the second and five each in the third and fourth innings. As in the Game 1, the Tigers collected all their runs on only seven hits. McElroy led the Tigers with two hits, while Atkins, Freeman, Smith, Jeremiah Bell and Lawler collected one hit each. Freeman, Bell and Lawler collected two RBIs each, with Gantt, Atkins, McElroy and Ryan Bumgarner collected one RBI each.

Gantt scored three runs and Chandler King, Harrison Carroll, Bell and Jacob Davis score two runs each. Atkins, Freeman, Smith, Lawler, McElroy and Bumgarner scored one run each.

As in Game 1, six Tiger batters were hit by pitch. Freeman was hit three times, King twice and Atkins, Bumgarner, Carroll and Gantt once each. Gantt and McElroy stole two bases each and Davis stole one.

Lawler pitched the complete four innings, striking out six and walking one. Lawler threw 63 pitches over the four innings.
