Lady Tigers take road win over Lady Bulldogs, Bibb County game canceled due to weather

The Demopolis Lady Tigers softball team traveled to Sweet Water Monday and came away with a 6-4 victory over the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead after one inning. The Lady Tigers plated two runs in the top of the second and the Lady Bulldogs added one in the bottom, resulting in a 3-3 tie after two innings.

The Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs matched their second inning outputs in the third, giving the Lady Tigers a 5-4 lead. The next three innings went scoreless. The Lady Tigers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning and the Lady Bulldogs were unable to answer, ending in the 6-4 victory for the Lady Tigers.

Madison Ford started on the mound, allowing two hits and two runs, then handed off to Allie Hughes. Hughes ended up notching the win on the mound, striking out one and walking one, while giving up two runs. Ashton Moorer added four innings of relief work and picked up the save for the Lady Tigers..

Alysse Dunklin and Sydney Smith collected two hits each for the Lady Tigers. Moorer and Abby Grace Cameron added one hit each. Moorer, Allie Hughes, Ford, Cameron, Weezie Hughes and Smith scored one run each. Cameron, Wessie Jacobs, Smith and Kylie Stokes were credited with one RBI each. The Lady Tigers collected two unearned runs.

Megan Roe tossed all seven innings for the Lady Bulldogs. Roe struck out 12 batters and only walked one during her complete game on the mound.

Megan Roe, Brooklyn Walker, Shazaria Kelly and Lydia Brewer collected hits for the Lady Bulldogs. Faith Edwards scored two runs, with Mallory Roe and Raegen Averette scoring runs for the Lady Bulldogs. Brewer collected 2 RBIs and Mallory Roe added one. One Lady Bulldog run was unearned.

The Lady Tigers’ Friday home game against Bibb County was canceled due to storms that impacted the Brent/Centreville area.
