Tigers baseball roughs up Falcons, 12-0 (with photo gallery)

The Demopolis Tigers baseball team extended its winning streak to four games after taking a five inning victory over the visiting Central-Tuscaloosa Falcons, 12-0. Hayes Atkins collected 12 strikeouts over five innings and also led the Tigers at the plate with three hits, including two doubles.

The Tigers plated four runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and positioned themselves for an abbreviated game by adding five in the bottom of the fourth. The Falcons broke up a no-hitter in the top of the fifth inning with a lead-off single, their only hit of the game.

Following up Atkins’ three hits, Price Smith finished with two hits on the day, including a triple. Joseph Gantt, Jacob Davis, Jimbo Lawler, Mac Logan, Drew Seymore and Coleman Fuqua contributed one hit each – giving the Tigers a total of 11 hits on the day. Davis, Logan and Fuqua notched doubles for their hits. Smith collected two stolen bases on the day, with Gantt and Harrison Carroll adding one each.

Atkins threw 59 pitches in his five innings of work. 45 of those 59 pitches were strikes. Atkins did not walk any Falcon hitters.
