Tiger soccer has strong day

The Demopolis High soccer team put together a strong performance in its own tournament Saturday, downing Tallassee 5-0 before playing to a 2-2 tie with Robertsdale.

Austin Brooks led the way in the opener with three goals, two of which were assisted by Christian Corbitt and the third of which was helped by Jace Rivas. Jeremy Chu added a goal off an assist by Oscar Validivia while Adam Brooker connected on an unassisted goal.

Demopolis dictated the pace of the game by dominating possession, allowing no shots on goal to Tallassee.

In the nightcap, the Tigers trailed Robertsdale 2-0 at half before shifting to a more aggressive strategy that saw them surge into a tie. Brooks found the back of the net for the fourth time on the day off an assist from Corbitt. Demopolis then tied the game when Luis Galvan connected on a goal off an assist from Brooks.

The Tigers move to 3-4-1 on the season and are scheduled to host Gardendale Tuesday.
