Tatum fans 14, Thomason notches three hits in nine-inning thriller

GREENVILLE ā€” A ninth-inning run validated the effort of eight-grade hurler Natalie Tatum and gave Demopolis its first area win of the season Friday with a 4-3 road victory over Greenville.

Taylor entered in relief with one out in the first inning and went on to hold Greenville to four hits, two walks and no runs over the next eight and two-thirds to pick up the win. Tatum’s threw 110 pitches and recorded 14 strikeouts in the contest.

Junior centerfielder Cameron Thomason paced the offense with a 3-for-4 performance that saw her drive in two runs and score one of her own while also stealing a base.

Freshman catcher Abbey Latham went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a RBI. Eighth-grader Kendall Hannah and senior Baleigh Grace and sophomore Anna Caroline Logan each scored a run.

Jessica Adams and Courtney Smith each went 1-for-4. Adams also stole a base in the game.

The win moves Demopolis to 4-7 on the season. The Lady Tigers are set to play again Monday when they host Clarke County at 4:30 p.m.
