Sweet Water shuts out McIntosh

Sweet Water jumped on top of McIntosh early and scarcely let up Tuesday en route to an 11-0 victory over McIntosh.

Jonah Smith’s one-out single in the top of the first ignited a four-run rally. He stole second and scored on a Will Huckabee double to put the Bulldogs on top. Hunter Mendenhall doubled home Huckabee to move it to 2-0. After a Braiden Broussard single and stolen base, John Thomas Etheridge drove in Chase Joiner and Broussard with a two-run single to set the lead at 4-0.

Shamar Lewis took a beanball with one away in the second before a Sasha Smith triple stretched the lead to 5-0. Jonah Smith then drove him in with a grounder to short to push it to 6-0.

The Bulldogs piled on in the top of the fifth when Sasha Smith led off the inning with his second triple of the game. Jonah Smith drove him in with a grounder. Two batters later, Mendenhall doubled in Jonah Smith to make it 8-0. Three batters later, Etheridge doubled in Mendenhall for the 10-0 advantage. Joiner doubled to plate Etheridge, setting the final margin.

Sweet Water (18-6) is set to host McIntosh Thursday before facing St. Luke’s and Satsuma Saturday.
