Sweet Water shuts out Choctaw County, 48-0

The Sweet Water Bulldogs traveled to Butler and lit up the scoreboard for 42 first half points against the Choctaw County Tigers. The Dawgs also added a touchdown in the third quarter and kept the Tigers out of the end zone the entire game for a 48-0 win.

It took the Bulldogs a little over half for the first quarter to get on the board. At the 5:51 mark, Jaland Lewis Horton crossed the goal line on a 46 yard run. Michael Alan Cole’s kick was good and the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead.

A little over a minute later, Braiden Broussard hit Sasha Smith for a 29-yard touchdown. Cole’s PAT gave the Dawgs a 14-0 lead with 4:46 to go in the first quarter.

The Dawgs got their third touchdown of the first quarter at the 1:16 mark, when Xavier Lucy got loose for a 39-yard touchdown run. Cole’s PAT increased the Bulldog lead to 21-0.

The Bulldogs would match their first quarter scoring in the second quarter. Walker Thompson scored on a 4-yard run with 8:33 to go in the second quarter. Horton got his second touchdown on a 24-yard run at the 4:47 mark and his third score of the night on a 1-yard run with 1:02 remaining in the first half. Cole converted all three PATs and the Bulldogs held a 42-0 lead when the first half came to an end.

The Dawgs would tack on their last touchdown of the night with 5:47 to go in the third quarter, on a 2-yard run by Conner Edmonds. The PAT was no good and the Bulldogs would have a 48-0 lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs accumulated 440 yards of total offense the the Tigers’ 77 yards. 326 of the Dawgs yards came on the ground, with 114 through the air. Broussard completed 3 of 4 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. Horton had 10 carries for 133 yard and three touchdowns. Christian Dunning had 11 carries for 99 yards. Lucy had four carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Thompson had five carries for seven yards and a touchdown, and Edmonds had one carry for a two yard score. Jaden Lewis had one catch for 50 yards. Smith had two receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown. Horton had one catch for 29 yards.

With the win, the Bulldogs stay undefeated on the season and will host McIntosh next week in a region matchup.
