Sweet Water dispatches Millry to clinch No. 2 seed

Sweet Water wrapped up the No. 2 seed in Class 1A, Region 1 Friday night with a 41-6 road win over Millry.
Shamar Lewis opened the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown run just 51 seconds into the game before Millry put together a drive to cut it to 7-6 with 6:42 left in the first quarter. That would be all Millry could muster as the Bulldogs overpowered Millry with the ground game the rest of the way. Jonah Smith scored on a 7-yard run and R.J. Rodgers on a 9-yard sprint to put the Dawgs up 21-6. Lewis got it done again in the second quarter with a 74-yard run to put Sweet Water up 27-6 before scoring from 16 yards out in the third for the 34-6 advantage.
Jacory Brown capped the scoring by punching it in from a yard out with 4:25 to go in the game.
The Bulldogs tallied 511 yards of offense on just 46 plays including 441 yards on the ground. Lewis finished with 226 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Sweet Water (5-2) hosts Fruitdale next Friday night to cap Region 1 play.
