10-7-2019 — Demopolis, Ala. — Madelyn Baty Singleton (center) was crowned Miss Junior COTR 2019 at the Demopolis Civic Center. Miss Junior COTR and members of her court are (left to right) Mille Grace Hill (third alternate), Lauren Olivia Tripp (first alternate), Miss Singleton, Emma Ryan Edmonds (second alternate) and Emery Elizabeth Wideman (fourth alternate).

Miss Junior Christmas on the River 2019 was crowned on Monday, Oct. 7 at the Demopolis Civic Center after 11 beautifully poised girls donned the stage. With a difficult choice ahead of them, the judges chose five girls to present themselves again to show their beauty, poise, and ability to think on the spot, by answering an on-stage question. This year’s question was, “If you were trying to convince someone from out of town to attend the Christmas on the River events, what would you tell them?” This really tested their knowledge of COTR and the reason Demopolis has these beautiful and well spoken representatives each year.

After the scores were tallied, Jennifer Roemen introduced Miss Junior Christmas on the River 2019 and her court.

Fourth Alternate Emery Elizabeth Wideman, is a seventh grader at Demopolis Middle School. She wore a stunning peacock blue ball gown with crystal detailing. Millie Grace Hill, a sixth grader at Demopolis Middle School, was awarded third alternate wearing a satin bubble gum pink dress with tiny bow and rhinestone accents.

Olivia is a seventh grader at DMS and she wore a regal white off the shoulder gown with a silver glitter pattern on the stage.

Crowned Miss Junior Christmas on the River was eighth grader Madelyn Baty Singleton. Maddie is the 13-year-old daughter of Charles and Ellen Singleton. She attends Demopolis Middle School and is the Chaplin for the DMS BETA club, a cheer leader on the DMS squad, and is involved in the youth program at the First United Methodist Church. Maddie was very surprised to be named Miss Junior COTR and looks forward to getting together with her friends on the court and riding in the COTR Day Parade on December 7th. When asked why others should sign up to participate in the pageant next year, Singleton said, “This is a fun opportunity to get dressed up and just be with your friends.”
