R.C. Hatch proves too much for Demopolis

Demopolis kept things close early before succumbing to a relentless R.C. Hatch attack in a 72-57 loss Friday night.

The Tigers trailed just 20-18 following the first quarter of play but would fall to an 11-point halftime deficit and spend most of the second half trailing by double digits.

Demopolis cut the deficit to eight points with less than a minute to go before Hatch opened the lead up again in the game’s final 90 seconds.

Bakauri Jackson led all scorers with 28 points, five assists and five rebounds for his Bobcats. Jessie Goldsby added 16 points. Ladarius Morrisette added nine points while Eric Carter had eight points and eight rebounds.

D.J. Howell led Demopolis with 21 points and nine rebounds. Demetrius Kemp finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Roderick Davis also scored 10 points in the loss.

The loss was the 10 in the last 11 games for Demopolis (8-15), which will close out regular season play next week with a four-game stretch against Sumter-Central, Selma, Pickens County and Linden.
