Drug Task Force seizes 67 pounds of marijuana

The 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force arrested one and seized 67 pounds of marijuana at approximately 2 a.m. Friday.

The task force called upon the help of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, the Demopolis Police Department, the Cuba Police Department and the University of West Alabama Police to search the passenger bus following an indication from a drug dog that narcotics were on the vehicle.

The task force arrested Arisnei Jaimes Dences, 24, of North Carolina

following the search and seizure that included the confiscation of 67 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $40,000.

“I appreciate all the long hours and hard work that the guys are putting in out there and we’ve been very successful,” task force commander Clint Sumlin said.
