Penny Thoughts: Our Lock-Up Quarantine
Yes, I know this column is going to ruffle a lot of feathers and some may wish to paint me as some kind of threat for believing what I have to offer here. Still, I cannot help myself.
What the medical apologists and the Democratic-controlled media have convinced the American public to do over these past too many weeks has been contradictory to any nonsense this Nation has suffered – including the insanity of Prohibition.
And I am done with it and done with keeping quiet about it!
Let me begin with Merriam-Webster’s dictionary definition of quarantine:
“…the period of time during which a person or animal that has a disease or that might have a disease is kept away from others to prevent the disease from spreading”.
And the sad fact is that those who delight in controlling us have ripped our Constitutional rights from stem to stern relying on fear and intimidation to keep us under their control, under the guise of keeping us “safe”.
They always have believed that they should never waste a crisis to make some political gain – OR to torment a sitting President. And that is exactly what they have done.
As I have written before, our entire response has been promulgated by confused medical researchers along with a Trump-hating media. And, oh by the way, if anyone still has ANY vote of confidence in our medical researchers after this COVID fiasco then I would like to sell them some water-front property, which I will be glad to show them at low tide!
For the past two weeks I have witnessed more different and contradicting theories on how to “contain” the virus or “flatten the curve”, on the necessity of more hospital beds, more medical devices, and more medical personnel than I can fathom.
And they all deliver this “new research” in total panic mode!
In the meantime, we have allowed some power-hungry demagogues to trample our Constitution, particularly the First Amendment! So where is the ACLU in all this? I believe they are hiding behind Joe Biden’s denials of sexual assault!
The most egregious actions have happened and are happening in states which have governors who are Democrats. This is not a political statement on my part, dear readers, it is an objective fact!!
For me, the most horrifying actions have come as a result of the copious amounts of pernicious palaver being spewed by some medical researchers who are in front of a camera for the first time – and they relish it! So, they have convinced State Executives to declare edicts which they claim have the weight of law! And the Governors have given law enforcement orders to enforce them with the same gravity as they would robbery!
One such edict is the “shelter-in-place” directive. In reality, this equates to a quarantine or lock down and in some States and communities, citizens have been told that it is the law! It is NOT a law! LAWS ARE MADE BY LEGISLATURES! NOT POWER-HUNGRY GOVERNORS!!
But we have been convinced that it is for our “safety”, so we cower “in place” for our “shelter”. Any of you remember how our parents or elders would scare the be-Jesus out of us with tales of horror or severe danger to keep us in our places? “The boogie man will get you!” “That house is haunted!” “Stay away from her…she killed her children!” Sound familiar?
Well, if you are old, or young, or have comorbidities, or sneeze, or shake hands, or meet in groups of more than 10, or stand closer than 6 feet, or whatever you do, don’t go to Church, even if it is Easter, or you’ll get sick and DIE!!!
Today, if we’re commanded to “jump”, we don’t dare ask, “How high?” We timidly plead with, “May I come down now?”
So, my rant here is that we have become so frightened of dying we are willing to run for “safety” even if it is a type of quarantine. Such a quarantine, “strongly urged” by some un-elected medical bureaucrats, feeds into the notion that America is now a Nation of sheep!
With all the “recommendations” by the medical research experts, if we were to heed everyone, we would be like one of Aesop’s fables of the old farmer going to town with his young son and their donkey.
An old farmer and his son were once going with their donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a man passed them and said: “You fools, what is a donkey but to ride upon?”
So, the man put the boy on the donkey, and they went on their way. Soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said: “See that lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.”
So, the man ordered his boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy old man to let his little son walk along.”
Well, the man did not know what to do, but at last he put his boy on the donkey with him.
By this time, they had come to the town and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor donkey of yours with you and your son riding?” So, they both got off.
Then, they started across the bridge into town. Half-way across the bridge the donkey pulled up and stubbornly refused to move. Everyone was giving advice. “Pull his tail!” “Grab his ears and lead him!” “Tickle his belly!” “Blow in his ears!”
With all the confusion, the donkey bucked up, kicked, and fell off the bridge, drowning.
The old farmer lost everything.
Moral of the story: TRY TO PLEASE EVERYONE, YOU PLEASE NO ONE…AND LOSE YOUR ASS IN THE PROCESS!
It seems to me that we have lost our way and have sacrificed our American liberty in a frantic search for “safety” from this COVID-19.
And what we are losing from all of this reaction exemplified by our quarantines and lock downs is the government’s obligation to protect our rights! It is their only obligation!
