Parishioners ‘gather’ for services
St. Leo the Great Catholic Church suspended all communal services until the threat of the COVID-19 epidemic is past.
That didn’t stop parishioners from celebrating the most holy day of the Christian calendar Easter morning. Some two dozen lined Main Avenue and Perry Street, keeping their distance from those not in their families, to receive a benediction from Fr. Justin Ward after he celebrated Mass in an empty church.
Fr. Ward held a Monstrance, an open receptacle in which the consecrated Host is exposed for veneration.
