Marengo Academy pulls to .500 on season

ALABASTER — Marengo Academy (9-9) pulled its record even Saturday with a 10-4 road win over Kingwood Christian.

Brant Lewis worked four innings on the mound for Marengo Academy, striking out three along the way. Hayden Huckabee worked four shutout innings while striking out four.

Tait Sanford, the Longhorns’ RBI leader, went 1-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored. Carson Huckabee finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Wallace Tutt was 1-for-4 with a two-run double and a run scored. Hayden Huckabee finished 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

The win came just one day after the Longhorns beat Sumter Academy 10-0 in six innings to move their region record to 3-1.

Wyatt Hale worked six innings on the mound, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Hayden Hall went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Lewis went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Sanford was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Tyler Barkley finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. Hale was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Longhorns are scheduled to play again Monday at Wilcox Academy in Camden.
