Longhorns subdue Rebels

20140121 MA vs SCA-1720LINDEN — Marengo Academy scored 72 of its 78 points from the floor and did not make a single three-point shot Tuesday en route to doubling up South Choctaw 78-39.

The Longhorns (11-9) saw three players score in double digits and all 10 players contribute to the point total as it took an early lead and never looked back in the contest.

Marengo carried an 18-12 lead into the second quarter before holding a 39-23 lead at the break thanks to a 21-point second quarter.

The Longhorns hung 20 more on the board in the fourth before watching its reserve unit do the heavy lifting in a 19-0 fourth quarter.

Cason Cook finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Hayden Huckabee had 13 points to go along with five steals. Shade Pritchett notched 12 points, three rebounds and two assists on the night.

Austin Eatmon had six points and five boards. Caleb Broadhead contributed five points while Alston Dinning had four. Landon Houlditch and Anthony Antonelli each had two.

The Longhorns are scheduled to play again Thursday at Patrician.
