Longhorns short circuit Chargers

1-11-19 — Linden, Ala. — Marengo Academy’s Hayden Campbell goes up for a shot against North River Christian Academy.

The Marengo Academy Longhorns defeated the North River Christian Academy Chargers 63-47 Friday night in Linden. Despite 33 points from NRCA’s Allyn Robinson, the Longhorns short circuited the Chargers behind Hayden Campbell’s 22-point and John Parker Brock’s 21-point night.

The Longhorns held a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the ‘Horns stretched that to a 20-point lead at the half, 35-15.

The Chargers outscored the Longhorns 12-10 in the third quarter, but still trailed 45-27. The Longhorns tacked on another 18 in the fourth and the Chargers added 20, ending with the 63-47 final.

In addition to Campbell and Brock’s 43-point effort, Tate Jordan added six points and Dylan Mendenhall chipped in four. Alex Owens and Casey Cramer added one 3-pointer each and Mason Glass and Tate Sparkman got in the book with two points apiece. LaKweili Rice, Javaris Grove, Devin Mitchell and Andrew Turner added five, four, three and two points respectively for the Chargers.
