Local departments participate in disaster preparedness training

Members of the Demopolis Public Safety Department, Public Works Department, Municipal Court, Building Official, Marengo County Commissioners, Demopolis City Councilmen, Marengo County Sheriff’s Office and Marengo County Emergency Management Agency took part in a Disaster Preparedness Training given by City of Tuscaloosa Chief of Police Steven Anderson.

This class focused on “Lessons Learned for the Storms that impacted Tuscaloosa, Alabama in April 2011.”  Demopolis Public Safety Director Tommie Reese contacted Chief Anderson about doing the training and he was very willing to share what’s they learned from being in the storms. Reese said that plans are being worked on in conjunction with Director Kevin McKinney of Marengo County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to do some additional training and drills in the future.
