Linden to play host to art walk

LINDEN — Looking for a fun, family-centered way to spend a summer night? Head to Main Street to Linden’s Second Annual Art Walk held June 20 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Cristiana Shipma has partnered with Kathryn Friday of ACES and Brenda Tuck of MCEDA through Auburn University College of Liberal Arts program Living Democracy. During her ten weeks in Linden this summer, she will be working on several community projects, one of which is to once again host an art walk downtown for area residents to enjoy.

The art walk will feature Marengo County artists of all ages, along with live music, face painting, chalk art, and much more.

An art workshop will be held June 11 and 12 from 9 a.m.- 11 p.m. at the Marengo County Business Development Center (the armory) for youth ages 8 and up. The cost is $5 to cover all supplies. Their art will be displayed at the Art Walk.

Art will be displayed on storefronts and within select businesses downtown. Visitors are encouraged to walk from Whistle Stop to Charley Burl’s to fully enjoy all the artwork. Live music will be located at various places downtown, with face painting available at the Gazebo.

If you are a local artist and would like to participate, please call Cristiana Shipma at (256) 361-7964, or email her at ces0043@auburn.edu. All art mediums are welcome.

For any questions and concerns about the art walk, please email project coordinator Cristiana Shipma at ces0043@auburn.edu or call (334) 295-5959.
