Lady Tigers hold off Sipsey Valley for 5-4 win (photo gallery)

The Demopolis Lady Tigers softball team hosted the Sipsey Valley Lady Bears and used a two-run bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 4-3 deficit, then held on for the 5-4 win.

The Lady Tigers scored one in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to gain a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the sixth. However, the Lady Bears came up with a four run rally to take a 4-3 lead. The Lady Tigers scored two runs with two outs, when Lizzie Cannon hit a hot shot that was mishandled by the Lady Bears at first base, allowing Sydney Smith to score the tying run. Later in the inning, Wessie Jacobs drew a walk that forced in Weezie Hughes for the go-ahead run. The Lady Tigers then held Sipsey Valley scoreless in the top of the seventh to take the 5-4 win.

Madison Ford, Abby Grace Cameron, Jacobs and Kylie Stokes collected hits for the Lady Tigers. Smith scored two runs, with Ashton Moorer, Jacobs and Hughes scoring one run each. Moorer and Jacobs totaled two walks each, with Alysse Dunklin, Ford, Cameron, Cannon, Hughes and Smith collecting one walk each.

Moorer pitched a complete game, striking out 10, while walking four and giving up seven hits.
