Lady Longhorns sit at 2-1 on early season

Through three games, the Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns sit at 2-1 overall. Marengo Academy opened the season with a 10-0 win over Monroe Academy.

Chandler Stenz finished that contest 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, one RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored. Anna Michael Crocker went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a triple and three runs scored.

Caitlin Andrews went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base. Andrea Edmonds tripled. Brooke Smyly, Ryan Hale, Amber Ray and Laremey Griffith each had a single in the game while Hale and Ray also scored runs.

Edmonds held Monroe at bay in the five-inning contest with 10 strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

Marengo Academy followed the season-opening win with a 3-0 setback at the hands of Wilcox Academy.

Emonds worked six innings, scattered five hits and two walks and struck out seven in the game.

Smyly had the lone hit of the contest for Marengo while Kimberly Moore drew a walk.

The Longhorns rebounded with a 15-2 win over Jackson Monday. Crocker fanned two and allowed only three hits in five innings of work.

Stenz singled, walked, stoles a base and scored a run. Crocker singled, drove in a run and scored once.

Smyly singled twice, had one RBI, stole two bases and scored two runs. Edmonds singled twice, drove in one, walked, scored three runs and stole a base in game.

Conner Etheridge singled and scored a pair of runs. Moore tripled, singled, walked, drove in two runs and scored twice.

Payton Stokes singled, picked up one RBI and scored a run. Andrews singled and drove in two runs. Hale singled and picked up a RBI.

Amber Wilkinson walked once and scored twice. Macey Petrey singled and walked.
