Five UWA athletes make Academic All-GSC, 25 on Honor Roll
The University of West Alabama placed 25 student-athletes on the 2013 Gulf South Conference Fall Honor Roll and five student-athletes were selected to the 2013 Fall GSC All-Academic Team. The GSC Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives select Academic All-GSC Teams in a joint vote.
Nominees must have an overall grade point average of 3.20 or better and may not be a freshman of first semester transfer. They must also be a significant contributor to the squad on the field or court. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own players.
Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team selections include football center Skeeter Sellers of Enterprise, Ala., a three-time selection to the team, and wide receiver Dakota Daniel of Hoover, Ala. Representing men’s soccer were midfielder Evan Beutler of Enterprise, Ala., and goal keeper Lavares Stone of Birmingham, Ala. Rounding out All-Academic Team honorees was men’s cross country runner Brandon Nelson of Brewton, Ala.
Following is a listing of UWA student-athletes who earned 2013 GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll selections. Competitors must have at least a 3.00 overall GPA and can not be a freshman or first semester transfer.
