Emergency restroom repairs in the works at USJ

In a called meeting Monday, Nov. 4, the Demopolis City School System Board of Education declared an emergency on restroom repairs at U.S. Jones Elementary School.

Corroded and collapsed cast iron pipes under the third grade wing have resulted in plumbing concerns, said Supt. Kyle Kallhoff.  By declaring an emergency, the Board is able to expedite approval of the plans from the Alabama Building Commission and award a contractor to fix the concern with minimal delays.

Once construction begins, the repair project should be completed in 60 to 90 days. In the interim, students are being rerouted to other restrooms within the school campus.
