Demopolis JV softball tops Thomasville for fourth straight win

The Demopolis High School junior varsity softball team extended its win streak to four games Monday with a 5-1 win over Thomasville.

The home-standing Tigers jumped out to a quick lead that they would never lose in the bottom of the first.
Aerial Irby kicked it off with a double to left that scored Samiya Lucas, who reached on a leadoff walk.
A double off the bat of Emily Schroeder plated Marianna Pearson, who reached on a single, and Irby. Lizzie Cannon ripped a shot up the middle, scoring Schroeder. A fielder’s choice from Tayler Pipkins scored Dani Shepherd, who reached on a single, and capped the Demopolis scoring frenzy at five runs. The next four innings, for both teams of Tigers, would be a defensive duel with neither team adding to its score. Lizzie Cannon got the win in the circle, spreading three strikeouts and three hits over three innings. Pipkins got the save, flipping just 10 pitches in 2 innings of relief and forcing six quick defensive outs.
