SWEET WATER – The Demopolis Lady Tiger junior varsity softball team (1-3) took home runner-up honors Saturday in a tournament hosted by Sweet Water High School – an effort that was bookended by losses to eventual tourney champs Hale County.

The Lady Tigers struggled to string together hits in the tournament’s first game against the Wildcats, with only four players reaching base.

April Schroeder rounds second against Hale County.

The team’s lone run in the 13-1 effort came courtesy of the seventh grade.

Leadoff batter Abby Grace Cameron (1-for-3) roped a triple to left and scored when the next batter, Lizzie Cannon (1-for-2), dropped a blooper in front of the right fielder.

Wessie Jacobs (1-for-2, single) and April Schroeder (1-for-2, triple) were the other Tigers to reach base in the game.
