Demopolis City Schools Foundation looking for next executive director

The search is on for the fifth executive director in the 29-year history of the Demopolis City Schools Foundation. Current executive director Ashley Coplin will end her tenure at the end of June when she begins a new career opportunity at Whitfield Regional Hospital.

“It is bittersweet leaving the Demopolis City Schools Foundation,” Coplin said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as the executive director. I am proud of the work of our Board and the ‘Demopolis Difference’ — our donors and community — as we were able to navigate uncertain times in the recent past with a global pandemic. Additionally, I appreciate their support this year through a challenging personal year for me.”

The part-time position of the DCSF executive director revolves around three pillars – fundraising, communication and bookkeeping.

“Our next executive director should be someone who brings imagination and creativity to fundraising and exhibits good decision-making skills,” said Pete Reynolds, DCSF president. “He or she should have a vision for how to work with the Board to move the Foundation into the future, especially in these ever-changing times.”

Applicants should email a copy of their resume, a cover letter, and three references to office@demopolis.org for initial consideration.

The Foundation is an independent nonprofit established in 1993 to encourage private philanthropic support of the Demopolis public school system.  Governed by a 33-member Board of Directors, the Foundation has provided more than $1.3 million in classroom grants since its inception, including more than $59,000 this school year. The Foundation also holds reserve and endowment funds topping $1.5 million to ensure continued support in the future.
