Demopolis blasts Falcons to stay unbeaten in Region 3

TUSCALOOSA ā€“ Kejuan Gracie scored the first two touchdowns of the night and Demopolis never let up on the way to a 40-7 skunking of Central High Friday night.

Gracie hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Stevenson with 8:49 left in the opening quarter for the early 6-0 lead. Gracie later jumped into the quarterback position in the Wildcat offense and plowed his way up the middle for the 6-yard touchdown run to push it to 13-0.

Brandon Franklin turned in an explosive touchdown run with a 43-yard sprint as he darted untouched around the left side.

Demopolis struck again with 5:02 left in the opening half. Two plays after C.J. Williams intercepted his sixth pass of the season, Stevenson went 16 yards around the right side and stiff armed a defender to finish a scoring run. The Tigers capped the half with a 90-yard drive that lasted six plays and culminated with a 13-yard Stevenson scoring run.

Nathaniel Johnson III got the Falcons on the board with a 55-yard touchdown run. Demopolis got its final score on a 6-yard Antonio Besteder rush.

Besteder paced the Demopolis offense with 138 yards rushing on 18 carries. Franklin had 130 yards on eight rushes.

Demopolis (5-1, 4-0) maintained its place atop Class 5A, Region 3 with the win. The Tigers will host Jemison next week before capping region play Oct. 26 against Chilton County.
