Crash kills two in Greene County

A single vehicle accident at  5:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, claimed two lives.

Senior Trooper Reginal King with ALEA said the crash occurred when a 2004 Nissan Frontier driven by Plummer Wayne Newton , 55, of Aliceville, left the roadway and overturned. Plummer and his passenger, Laquita Elaine Cherry Johnson, 56, of Boligee were both pronounced dead at the scene. Seatbelts were not in use.

The crash occurred on Greene County 20, approximately six miles north of Boligee. Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation, speed is believed to be a factor.

Nothing further is available. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
