County gets $250K from RAA to level, stripe CR 33

Marengo County will receive $250,000 from the Alabama Department of Transportation to level and stripe a portion of CR 33.

The project is one of 10 in the state selected for the latest round of funding through the Annual Grant Program created under the Rebuild Alabama Act. The county will contribute $25,100 toward the project which involves 3.1 miles of CR 33 from U.S. Hwy. 43 to CR 47.

The Rebuild Alabama Act, overwhelmingly passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Kay Ivey in 2019, requires ALDOT to establish an annual program setting aside $10 million off the top of the state’s share of new gas tax revenue for local projects.

An additional round of local projects is expected later this year. It is anticipated that many projects will be under contract by the end of 2022. All projects are required to move forward within one year of the awarding of funds.
